and Europe as well as departures to
Edmonton.
Due to the size of this sector and
blocking
by mountains, this sector could not
be operated
on one frequency. Rather than have
aircraft
switch frequencies in mid-sector, a
switch
was installed to allow the controller
to
select which transmitter to use depending
on the location and altitude of the
aircraft
receiving the message. Both receivers
operate
simultaneously
through a mixer circuit. |
